Evidence for Non-Hydrostatic Gas from the Cluster X-ray to Lensing Mass Ratio
Using a uniform analysis procedure, we measure spatially resolved weak gravitational lensing and hydrostatic X-ray masses for a sample of 18 clusters of galaxies. We find a radial trend in the X-ray to lensing mass ratio: at r2500 we obtain a ratio MX/ML = 1.03± 0.07 which decreases to MX/ML = 0.78± 0.09 at r500. This difference is significant at 3σ once we account for correlations between the ...
متن کاملHydrostatic equilibrium of a porous intracluster medium: implications for mass fraction and X-ray luminosity
The presence of dilute hot cavities in the intracluster medium (ICM) at the cores of clusters of galaxies changes the relation between gas temperature and its X-ray emission properties. Using the hydrostatic equations of a porous medium we solve for the ICM density for a given temperature as a function of the filling factor of dilute bubbles. We find that at a given temperature, the core X-ray ...
متن کاملCharacterizing dye bias in microarray experiments
MOTIVATION Spot intensity serves as a proxy for gene expression in dual-label microarray experiments. Dye bias is defined as an intensity difference between samples labeled with different dyes attributable to the dyes instead of the gene expression in the samples. Dye bias that is not removed by array normalization can introduce bias into comparisons between samples of interest. But if the bias...
متن کاملParameter Estimation with MOCK algorithm
Wine quality has been considered a difficult task that only few human expert could evaluate. However, it is infeasible to give all wine produced a quality label by one of those experts. In this project, we focus on the task of predicting wine quality from physicochemical properties via data mining. We propose a new algorithm for this task, called MOnte Carlo Kernel (MOCK), and compared its perf...
متن کاملDevelopment of an Analysis Pipeline Characterizing Multiple Hypervariable Regions of 16S rRNA Using Mock Samples.
OBJECTIVES There is much speculation on which hypervariable region provides the highest bacterial specificity in 16S rRNA sequencing. The optimum solution to prevent bias and to obtain a comprehensive view of complex bacterial communities would be to sequence the entire 16S rRNA gene; however, this is not possible with second generation standard library design and short-read next-generation seq...
